Before you start, gather these essentials:
- Net curtains (of course!)
- Curtain pole, track, tension rod, net wire (depending on your preference)
- Measuring tape
- Drill or screwdriver (if you’re feeling handy)
- Level (to ensure everything is straight)
- A friend (optional, but highly recommended for holding things up!)
1. Measure Your Window
First things first, measure your window width and height. If you want your net curtains to touch the floor or just graze the windowsill, make sure to account for that in your measurements. Don’t forget to add a little extra for gathering if you’re using a pole!
2. Mark the Bracket Positions
If you’re not opting for a tension rod or wire you’ll need to use your measuring tape and mark where you’ll install the brackets for your pole or track. A good rule of thumb is to place the pole or track about 15cm above the window frame for a lovely, elongated effect. Use a level to ensure your marks are straight.
3. Drill and Install
Now for the fun part! If you’re feeling handy, drill the holes for your brackets and secure them in place. If you’re using adhesive hooks for a no-drill option, make sure to follow the instructions carefully.
4. Hang Your Curtains
Time to hang those beautiful net curtains! Slide them onto the pole or track, adjusting as necessary. Stand back and admire your handiwork—don’t forget to adjust the gathers for that perfect look.
