How to Measure for Inside the Recess
Measuring for Made to Measure sheer curtains is quick and easy. All you'll need is a metal tape measure, along with a pen and paper to note down your measurements.
For the most accurate results, we recommend fitting your curtain pole or track before you measure.
Net and voile curtains are usually fitted inside the window recess, allowing them to sit neatly behind curtains or a blind. Heavier curtains are typically hung outside the recess on a curtain pole or track.
Measure the width of your window recess from left to right at the widest point.
Then measure the drop from the top of the recess down to where you would like the curtain to finish.
If you're ordering café-style curtains, simply measure from where the top of the curtain will hang down to where you'd like the curtain to finish. Café curtains are often fitted across the lower half of a window, but you can choose any finished drop that suits your home and the level of privacy you'd like.
We recommend measuring both the width and the drop in a couple of places, as window recesses aren't always perfectly square. Use the smallest measurement to help ensure your curtain fits neatly.
Once you've measured your window, simply enter your Window Width on the product page and then choose your preferred fullness. We'll use these details to make your curtain to the confirmed finished size.
